The Rolling Sea

s+s3

Well, here’s what twenty years of marriage looks like for this happy pair, photographed by their darling daughter, just before they ventured out to their favorite seaside eatery for an anniversary feast!

While strolling the boardwalk the next day, we saw the headlines proclaiming Senator Ted Kennedy’s death.  On another vacation, we had seen the same kind of headlines, but for John F. Kennedy, Jr.

Both times, we had been purposely ignoring the news, taking a break from the news, only to have the news present itself to us, as if to say, “I cannot be denied.”

It’s like the ocean, in a way. Whether or not we are near it, whether or not we can hear, smell, and see it, its waves keep rolling, in and out, over and over again, on and on.

Life. Death. Celebrations. Mournings. They are all a part of nature and therefore of life.

So, Happy Anniversary to us. And God bless Senator Kennedy for all his good works. Each of us is part of the rolling sea.

I hope you had a good celebration of your marriage.

Senator Kennedy will be deeply missed.

I love your analogy of life and the sea; it’s very apt.
